About Me

Biography

I’m 48, I live and work in Lower Earley and am happily married with a grown-up daughter.

I grew up in Kent before graduating from the University of Surrey in 1994 with an honours degree in Chemical Engineering.

Since then I have built a successful career in the Oil and Gas Industry working predominantly on oil and gas mega-projects for Middle-Eastern clients. I enjoy the challenges and opportunities for innovation that come from pushing the envelope of engineering design.

During the early part of my career I was a Process simulation specialist, carrying out complex modelling of refineries and gas plants to optimise configurations and provide data for detailed design.

Over the past 10-or-so years, my role has changed to that of team leader, Lead Engineer and Process Manager. Responsible for manhour budgets of many millions of dollars, specifying equipment worth many hundreds of millions and managing teams of 50+ engineers working in multiple execution centres and, often, multiple continents and time zones to maximise value for clients.

I became a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers in 2010.

Heavily involved in the Referendum campaign in 2016, I became increasingly frustrated with the betrayal of our parliament and in February this year I set up Leavers Of Reading, part of the Leavers of Britain group.

Just before Easter I was contacted by the Brexit Party and appointed as Berkshire County Organiser for the European Election campaign; organising street stalls, recruiting fellow Brexiteers to assist and managing the distribution of Brexit Party literature across the County as well as supporting our fantastic set of Brexit Party MEP Candidates.

And outside of Politics?

I am a keen amateur photographer and have photographs featured in several touring exhibitions that visit Reading from time to time.

For the last couple of years I have enjoyed flying a DJI Mavic Pro drone to get an aerial perspective of the World around us.

More recently I have discovered the pleasure of traditional Chinese Gong Fu style tea brewing and am building up a collection of specialist Chinese teas and ceremonial tea-ware – I’m always up for a good cup of tea and a slice of cake too!

Why Am I Doing This?

Fundamentally because I believe the EU is a crony-capitalist racket that is destined to replace European nation states with a United States of Europe under the control of unaccountable unelected bureaucrats. As nation states die, so will genuine democracy and we will end up living in something akin to the old Soviet Union.

What many Remainers fail to understand (or choose to ignore) is that there is no such thing as the status quo. Every month MEPs travel from Brussels to Strasbourg to rubber stamp new laws and directives that chip away at the sovereignty of national Parliaments and there’s nothing we can do to stop it.

What Do I Believe In?

Some people have asked me what I believe in, given that the Brexit Party has only announced a few policies to date – other than honoring the 2016 referendum result of course.

Well, here’s my compass, produced from the website www.politicalcompass.org.

I believe in a low-tax, small government where individuals are allowed to make their own choices and take responsibility for their own actions.

Firmly against the nanny state, I absolutely opposed to the #PoliticsOfEnvy peddled by the Labour Party.

I believe that governments should provide enough information for people to make their own minds, rather than being overly taxed (or worse, legislated) to go in a particular direction.
